Ivanhoe Water System Update

The Ivanhoe Water System is a project to design and construct a new public water system for the Ivanhoe population and surrounding areas of Sampson County. The project will create a water distribution system to connect the residents within the disadvantaged, underserved community of Ivanhoe (who have expressed the desire to connect to a public water system) to Sampson County's water supply. The new infrastructure will include:

8", 6" and 4" PVC Watermain 1 Booster Pump Station

Residential water services (No tap fee for customers)

 

Engineering Status Update:

Surveying     95% to 100% Complete

Design          10% to 60% Complete

 

Key Milestone Dates

Bid and Design Package Submittal for Permitting                    November 1, 2023

Bid and Design Package Approval of Permits                          March 1, 2024

Advertise, Receive Bids, Receive Authority to Award               July 1, 2024

Execute Construction Contracts                                              August 1, 2024

 

Project Grant Provisions:

Includes the payment for the water service (meter box) 

The contractor who is awarded the bid will install the water lines and all water services (meter boxes) as well.

The County's contribution/responsibility ends at the water service (meter box).

 

Property Owner's Responsibility:

  1. Complete application for service - will be delivered to potential customers during recruitment. This would be summer 2024.

  2. Running a water line from the water service (meter box) to the home.

  3. Provide a pressure reducing valve on said line.

  4. Obtain a permit from Sampson County Inspections to inspect said line.

    **Current inspection fee is $75.

  5. Once the water line has been inspected and passed, Public Works will install the meter and water will be available for use.

 

Future Water Customer Helpful Information:

Current water rates are $21.00 minimum and $4.85 per thousand gallons

Average water bill is for 4,000 gallons and would be $40.40
